PROM WEAR FROM ALFRED ANGELO REFLECTS CURRENT FASHION TRENDS
Today’s Teens Can Choose From A Diverse Selection of Styles, Silhouettes and Colors
To Find The Perfect Dress For Their Prom
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., February 20, 2004 – Prom dresses have come a long way
since puffy sleeves and oversized bows ruled the dance floor. Today, many prom girls are looking
for stylish, sophisticated attire, much of which is derived from current couture lines or inspired by
fashions worn by celebrities. Other prom goers favor more traditional and romantic silhouettes that
have been updated by contemporary fabrications, color or detailing. Whatever direction they
choose, this season’s offerings represent the winning combination of sophistication and youthful
appeal.
“Our Spring 2004 prom collection reflects several fashion industry trends,” states Michael
Shettel, Director of Design at Alfred Angelo. “Glamorous styles like those worn by celebrities are
prominent,” he explains “but we’re also seeing a return to the traditional and romantic.” Another
option is the fashion-forward bareness of lingerie-inspired dresses reminiscent of celebrities like
Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. Prom girls can expect to see styles with silhouettes ranging from
straight and simple to embellished, full-skirted and traditional.”
CLASSIC GLAMOUR – Sleek, sophisticated styles reminiscent of the Hollywood of the
1930’s, 40’s and 50’s are featured in this year’s Alfred Angelo prom collection. Simpler dresses
with empire waists, ruffled necks and hemlines, mermaid skirts, and lighter fabrics such as chiffon
reflect this trend. Other elements include dramatic drapes, asymmetric hems and ruffles. Dresses in
this category will still be available in traditional red, black and white, but also appear in
contemporary pastel shades. Accompanying accessories can include gloves, dyed-to-match shoes
and chandelier earrings.

AFFORDABLE STYLES FROM ALFRED ANGELO

MODERN COLOR – As with Spring itself, this year’s prom season begins with a blast of
color. From flashy hot pink and turquoise to more subdued pastel greens and yellows, the options
are endless. What better way to show off personal style than by selecting a dress from the rainbow
of hues now available. For an up-to-date look, prom girls can make a statement in the new brights –
power pink, bold orange, and azure blue – or choose earthy pastels like sage green or honey yellow.
Another option is the color mix – black embroidery on white or red, or other daring color
combinations. These contemporary colored dresses come in a variety of silhouettes but tend towards
simple styling that lets the color stand out.
LINGERIE-INSPIRED – For those daring to go bare, lingerie-inspired designs are one of
the season’s hottest trends. Elements of this style include spaghetti straps, low or open backs,
corsets, ribbons, and plenty of lace. Fabrications tend to be sheer and light, though sequins and
beading are also featured. Some of these dresses are shown in a shorter length, with jagged or
asymmetrical hems, and often have a sheer or see-through element. Prom girls who choose this style
are sure to be noticed!
ROMANTIC – Other styles may come and go, but the fairytale ball-gown will always be
on the list for Prom season. For many girls, this style, which often features a fitted bodice and full
skirt, is the epitome of what a Prom dress should be. Simple tops, which may be beaded, sequined
or embroidered, are paired with full skirts of tulle, organza or satin with an overlay to create the
princess look. Both the silhouette and the fabrications accent femininity and youth, while flattering
nearly every body type. Floral elements, including appliqués and embroidery, and even fabric, are
also popular.
Whatever her preferred dress style, this year’s prom girl has an unparalleled opportunity to
attend the event of the year in the dress of her dreams, without spending a fortune. Alfred Angelo
offers more than 75 designs in sizes ranging from 2 to 20 (with over 25 available in sizes 16W –
28W), starting a suggested retail price of $139. The line is available at leading bridal retailers across
the country and in Alfred Angelo Company Stores in South Florida and Southern California. The
company also sells affordable dresses for brides, bridesmaids, junior bridesmaids, mothers, and
flower girls. For more information, please visit alfredangeloprom.com or call 561-241-7755.
